Re: Check out this classic 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne Commercial

If I was a smart Chevy suspension engineer in 1972, and I knew my spring rates and shock damping rates real well, I could choose the height and distance between those boards very carefully to produce a nice result. I think GM trucks from this era had a real good suspension (isn't NASCAR still using a trailing arm rear suspension?), but I also think that test was rigged a little. Notice how uniform the spacing is on those boards. In 1991 I drove to Alaska with a couple of friends in my buddy's 1967 C10. We drove the 800 mile pipeline haul road up to the Arctic Ocean. The washboard on the dirt toad was bad in places. When we'd hit the right natural frequency we'd end up sideways.
