Re: Poll time...where did you find your truck?

My 1970 C20 was the first new vehicle my parents bought. It was originally lime green with a white cab and white skirts. Its been in the family longer than me so they often joke they have more attachment to it than my sister or I. They moved it from Oregon City, to Anchorage, to Aberdeen Wa, to Bellevue Wa, to Bellingham Wa. I now have it in Concord Ca. It had severe rust problems by the early eighties since we would take it on the beach in Washington for clam digging. My dad tried to wash the underside as best he could, but there was no stopping the rust.

I fondly remember all of the family camping trips, either hauling a 8 foot camper or pulling a 22' trailer. It was always fun passing brand new trucks in the 80's that were overheating on the side of the road pulling trailers over Washington mountain passes while we cruised on by without even breaking a sweat in our 70 rust bucket pulling our trailer.

In 1989, my dad and I did a "band-aid" restore where we hid the rust and repainted to a red metallic. It looked good and it was mine when I turned 16. By the end of the 90s, it was showing its rust again.

A few years ago, we started a frame off. We got the cab from Nevada, the doors and right fender are from California. It has a new 350 crate engine and a 700R4 tranny. The only thing original is the frame, bed, and suspension components (except trailing arms). I am going to put a 70 grille back on it soon. It will always remain in the family.
