69 GMC parking brake issue.

I just purchased a 1969 GMC K2500 4wd longbed pickup. Truck runs great but needs parking brake working for inspection. Here's the issue, the old cables are cut and tied to the frame. The rear brake backing plates have no holes to accept new cables. The rear is a Dana 60 10 bolt which is for that truck. It has 2" wide brake shoes and the inside of the drum measures 12". I have searched the internet all weekend but can't seem to find any info. Can anyone guide me to possibly changing the back plates or drilling holes for the cables. I don't know the history on the truck. It hasn't been modified and has stayed stock. Looking at the springs and "U" bolts I would have to say the rear is original. Thanks
