gmc with leafs to trailing arm rear ???

hey, i have a 69 gmc 1/2 ton and it has the leaf rear and i cant back up or take off in first without getting serious rear end hop. reverse and first are both fast gears in my saginaw 4 spd and my rearend is a fast one too. will trailing arms bolt in the the center carrier bearing crossmember? what all will this involve, or is there a different way to stop the hop? maybe new leafs because mine are old and sagging? to show how much they sag....i never rebuilt any of my front end or rearend and when i put the body back on my pickup the front was an inch higher than the back, so i cut a coil to get it level. thanks, Ben
