Transfercase confussion - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey Guys,
I am new to the whole 4X4 scene and something that is totally confusing me is the terms, "part time" and "full time" 4WD. What is the difference? I thought all trucks where 2wd unless you shifted the transfercase into 4wd. Also why do some trucks have locking hubs and some do not? One final questions on my list is what is up with some transfercases having two shifters instead of just one?
