Which Flywheel?

I am in need of a new flywheel (Manual Transmission ) for my 454 BBC. I know that it has to be an externally balanced one and all that, my question is would a ' Nodular Iron ' flywheel be as good or better as a machined steel one? I can purchase one out of the GM Performance Parts catalogue ( Nodular Iron ) for about a hundred bucks cheaper than a Cenerforce one ( Machined Steel ). I have exhausted all wreckers and racers and have not found a trace of a used one so I think a new one is my only option. Also, I have been told that cast iron ones can crack and or detonate/ fall apart with abuse. I am running 44's and on a good day I believe I am in the neighbourhood of 425 ponies, so naturally it has to stand up to some pounding. Has anyone had any experience with this? Which is better? I am not against springing for the Centerforce one, but a hundred or so bucks could be easily spent elswhere on my ride. Thanks.
