Finally got a chance for some 'Play Time'
Between the weather and my schedule, I finally had some time yesterday to do a little 'playing' with the truck. Thanks to the forum I pulled the gauge cluster, painted the back silver and put in new bulbs. I couldn't fine the 'chrome' paint that was recommended so I used some 'silver' paint from A.C.Moore that is for decorative things like picture frames. It looked pretty good when it was dry. I can at least see my speedo at night now. Naturally, nothing goes 'perfectly' right ..... I decided to clean the old grease off of the transmission indicator but the spray I used work at little too well and took the paint off of it too. I can barely see the indicator letters and the backing is gray metal. I'll have to figure out the best way to repaint that.
I also started putting in a new radio. Getting the old one out was a major pain and after some 'soul searching' I grabbed some tools an cut the mounting area to fit a rectangular radio. My bezel is in nice shape so I'm a little more concerned about cutting the bezel than i was about the dash. I ran out of daylight so I still have to do the wiring and put the new radio in. My door panels are very faded and pretty crappy looking so I picked up some spray paint for plastic when i was out and I'm going to try painting them. I figured I'd have to replace them anyway so it's worth a try.
