Finally finishing the Wood floor

My Dad and I are finally finishing his stepsides wood floor. After check on here and several other sites he decided to use Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane. So first this this morning we marked out the holes for the angles and drilled them. We have two coats on the wood right now. In between coats we are rubbing them out with a 3M scotch bright pad. The goal is 4 coats on all surfaces. Then late last night we discovered something we missed. He installed the Summit fuel cell in the back and didn't pay attention to the wood sill that goes right over top of the cap for the fuel cell. So we are going to combine a couple ideas that we found on here. Slick67 came up with the idea of having a muffles shop weld a pipe in the metal ring on top of the fuel cell--see pic. Then he plumbed pipe off to the side to a 45 degree fuel fill neck. We are using the first part, but directly above it we are we are using a stainless marine fuel fill. This will require cutting a bed strip and cutting a cross sill. The bed strip will be held in place by the stainless ring around the fill and the bed sill rill be reconstructed so that it still goes all the way across the truck to support the wood. I will be posting pics as we get some work done.
