Advice on steering column and shifter
Hey guys, I need some advice on either rebuilding or replacing a steering column in my 69 C20 w/ TH350. I currently have a straight column (non-tilt) with auto shift on the column. By the way, this all started from wanting to rewire the truck (which I haven't done yet). My turn signal switch is shot, need new canceling cam, bearing, safety switch, etc.
Is it better to just buy new column with all items installed, or try to rebuild? A new column might just set off the restoration (and probably my wallet). Can I install a new tilt-column? If I can use a tilt column, how hard is it to convert over to a floor shift, and what would be needed to do the job? Anyone have any remove/replace threads or info? Thanks for your help.
