LT1 help... noob with alot of questions
hi everyone...
im new to the site and have done lots of reasearch on here and love thise site. I recently purchased a 69 c/10 stepside. it was completely stock with no ps, pb, or ac. it has a few rust outs in the cab but it is fixable. it came with a 250 inline and 3 OTT. I recently did a 2/4 drop with springs. I love this truck and planned on keeping it as is and just fix the body up. well my cousin has a lt1 out of a camaro (not sure of the year yet) with the wires and everything still attached except for the tranny that he is going to sell to me for $100 . its just sitting in his garage so he wants it out. now here is my questions 1) what tranny should i use? i want an auto to cruise... should i get 700r4 or the 4l60e and if i swap out the steering column to the non tilt auto column shift would that workout fine? dont really need tilt and dont want to spend money on just the tilt. 2) i plan on going with painless perfect plug and play harness... good idea or bad? is there another stand alone that is worth looking at? dont want to wire it myself and dont want to send it out neither... 3) what should i do with the gas tank and fuel pump problem? is there a bolt in kit that i should look into? will spend extra for easiness of install but not too much... 4) last question... hopefully... i am goin to get the ac relocation kit by march and was wondering how the power steering and ac will work in my truck if i did not have it previously... i really want power steering but if its too much parts or expensive i can do without it for awhile. but the ac is a must for summertime in northern CA. what parts will i need to make both work if posssible sorry for the long post but im new to the whole chevy/ hotrod/ classic scene. this is my first ever project and im not too good with stuff like this but my bro-in-law is a mechanic but this will be his first as well and will be helping me with this truck every step of the way. any and all answers are appreciated. thanks Last edited by allee85; 03-31-2010 at 01:57 PM.
