transmission help!

ok, so this past saturday i was headed out to the beach which is about 50 miles or so from where i live. once i made it to my destination i noticed smoke coming from under my truck but couldnt locate the source. i made the trip back home fine, and hadnt moved my truck for another 2 days. today as i was leaving for work i cranked her up and when as i was reversing i noticed a large pool of trans fluid where she sat. i looked under the truck and notice that it was coming out pretty quick? any ideas of what i should be aware of????

i will be taking her to a shop tomorrow, but i don't wanna be screwed over by not having any knowledge on transmissions in general. could it be just the gasket seals??? i have noticed a small jerk when trying to speed up on the freeway in overdrive. this has been happening for 3 months now. could this be related????
