straight 6 in v8 mounting spot

is it at all possible that some could make an inline six fit in the 8 cylinder motor mount area? my truck had a straight six when i bought it, but the motor towers are bolted to the forward most set of bolt holes and the fan is 1/2" to 1" away from the radiator.

also according to my vin the truck was originally an 8 cylinder. it also sounds as if the transmission is not actually bolted to its crossmember and just rests on it.

i can post a picture of the motor if that helps at all.

i have got everything to put in a 350 and TCI th350 other than the motor towers and tranny crossmember, dont want to buy new ones of those if i dont have to. this truck is just my driver/beater.

thanks for your help.
