locking gas caps and lost keys

well, i lost my keys - what a drag. i had the locksmith come and make me some new ignition and door keys, but by the time he was through with all that - i just wanted to get home, and didn't want to wait the extra time for mr. slow *ss to deal with the locking gas cap.

i assumed these aren't too hard to remove, but before i try - any one been through this before? i am leery of prying it off on account of sparks. any one removed one of these before? it is just a standard locking cap - nothing special.

thanks,
scott
