Frnt drive shaft advice w/ 700R4 tranny

The PO installed the 400sb and the 700R4 tranny. They cut the rear drive shaft and did it right. However, they never extended the front drive shaft. So it was just holding onto the end of the splines. Any hard 4x4 action and it would have poped off and hit the pan on the tranny. So if you convert to a 700R4 make sure they lengthen the shaft. My splines are shot so I have a complete new shaft being made. I'm going with the new teflon greaseless fitttings, front and back. Total job $300. I've seen their work and it is first class! It is a real bugger to remove the front drive shaft. The cross support bar makes it almost impossible, it will take a small/skinny 1/2 in combo wrench!
