How many RPMs are needed to smoke a 5.3?

Only 4800 according to my memory tach!!

The other morning some punk in a late model truck pulled up right on my tailgate. I thought it was an Escalde. It had blue lights, large plastic lamps and 20". I saw it coming up from a long distance to the light. It was lowered but not lower than mine. Cars were lined up three wide at the light. I was in the middle lane. I take off normally with traffic. As soon as there is enough room, the truck tries to sling shot around me. OH no you don't. I hammer the throttle. His truck was no match. I can tell he tried to keep up but I kept pulling away. I teased him by letting off. Once he reach the tailgate, I hammered the throttle again. Gone in 0.06 seconds.
At the next light, he pulled up in the next lane. I was ready. I had the truck on OD. I didn't feel like hammering a cold 700R4 through the gears. He left at normal traffic speeds. Once we get on the interstate, I hammer it. The truck was no match. I laughed all the way home. I laughed even harder when I hit the memory button and saw 4800 RPMs! Maybe he'll come back when he as a turbo, super charger or bottle. Better yet, bring a modified 6.0.

I need to install the Corvette governor sitting on my work bench.
