need help removing grille center strips & bowtie

I just bought a replacement grille for my 86 Silverado with dual headlights. I need to remove the (blue) center strips & bowtie from the original to install on the new grill. It looks like the center strips & bowtie have plastic dows that slip into holes precut in the grille but I cant quite tell how they are attached on the back side & dont want to break them while trying to remove them from the old grille. It looks like they have something similar to a light weight metal nut holding them on but the dow is plastic and will break if I try to remove the nut with a socket. Anyone know how to remove this. I took a picture of the new grille (first 2 pics) & the old grille (last 3 pics) for reference.
Thanks
