Possible timing issue?

Just recently replaced my cap and rotor buttonwith an accel super coil. For about the past week when I get into fourth or fifth gear and get on it, it backfires through the carb and then it will cut out and die. Just yesterday, I had to call a buddy of mine to pull me home because it was acting like it was flooding out and j couldn't get it to stay running. Not sure if this is a timing issue or a carb adjustment, thanks.
