interchanging parts from different years

I have an 83 c10 that I am beginning to build. I have come across an 87 Suburban that has lots of parts but I am wondering if a few of them will work on my 83'.

One thing is the guage cluster. Wasn't sure since the 87 was FI.

Also, can I put a steering column out of the 87 into my 83? Can the wipers and stuff be wired into the later model column?

Those were two of the major things I was wondering about.
