4x4 Burb? NOT!!

I bought my truck about 2 months ago, but I haven't worked on it much since I was in the middle of alot of serious work on my '79 K20 Camper Special. It is the "sacrificial" truck that will do all the ugly stuff that I don't want the Burb doing. But from the beginning something bugged me about the Burb. The speedometer didn't work, the guy I bought it from said he didn't know why. It was because it was not hooked up. It was not hooked up because it is at least a foot too short. The glove box says it has a front stabilizer bar, which it doesn't. It also says it has the G80 rear diff. The guy I bought it from said "Nope. One wheel wonder." A 10 bolt front diff, which I noticed. The guy said he put it on to get front discs. Sounds logical. Lots of other little things. The other day I was putting a little Eastwood corroless on some minor rust on the drivers side floor. Medium gold metallic floor, white transmission cover. This morning I was reinstalling the floor mat and screwing down the chrome sill piece when I happened to glance at the tag on the door frame. VIN starts with CE160, not a K to be found in it anywhere. D'oh!

I looked at the VIN when I bought the truck, but only to make sure it matched the title. I had seen what I had wanted to see on this truck already. Beautiful floors, floor braces, body mounts. And it drove great. From what little information I have, I think this is a California body with an East Coast frame. What year I don't know. The carb is a '68, but it has the 465/205 combo.

This is just funny, I don't care who you are. How could I have not noticed the missing K? Guys like us think about doing things like this, but actually doing it is another thing altogether. Not that I care. The truck is great, and the person who did the swap did a nice job. If you are out there, let me know. It came from Connecticut or Rhode Island to KY a couple years ago.
