Replacing Cigarette Lighter in 66 Chevy C-10

UPDATE: I ordered a replacement lighter off of eBay. When it arrived, I discovered the way it is supposed to work. The back part of the casing (behind the dash) actually unscrews from the front portion, which is why it appears to be threaded. The front part screws into the back portion. My original lighter was fused (by rust?) and would not come apart. And even now that I know how it unscrews, I still can't unscrew it. I may put some WD-40 on it, but since the little tabs are broken, there's not much point in doing it.

So.......much of what is in the video is incorrect now, but it still may be helpful. You don't have to take the little nut off in order to remove the lighter from the dash......unless yours is so rusted that it won't unscrew the correct way.

The cigarette lighter in my 66 C-10 was not working, so I ordered a new wiring harness from Brothers. When it arrived, I was unable to figure out how it clipped to the back of the lighter. Duh. After much searching and reading, I was finally able to remove the lighter from the dash in order to clean it and see how the power wire attached. I made a video and posted it on YouTube to help any of you guys with this procedure.

Unfortunately, I broke off one of the clip-tabs that hold the heating element down while it heats, so I was unable to test it after I cleaned it up. I'm now searching for a replacement clip-tab assembly, or an entire lighter assembly.

I did discover that putting the lighter back into the dash can be a trying experience. I think I figured out the best way to do it and will make another video when I locate a replacement part.
