Steering Wheel Restoration

I scored a 63 Impala steering wheel and steering column yesterday. A buddy of mine gave it to me for towing his van the other day. I want to use the steering wheel in my 66 C10. I guess the first question would be: will it fit in my truck? The steering wheel is cracked in a bunch of places, and I want to fill in the cracks and repaint it. Anyone have any tips on doing so? What is a good rattle can paint that will stay on the steering wheel?

I think I have a pretty good idea on how to do this. I was thinking 'v' out the cracks with a file, then fill in the 'v's with some kind of putty....JB weld or something. Then sand and prime and sand. Then fill in the spots I missed....then sand and prime and sand, and keep at it like this til I am done.

I have looked through the archives and couldn't find anything on this.
