cooling fan set-up-whats the hot ticket?
I have been searching for the best electric fan set-up for my 69 truck. I have read about using a Ford Tarus 2 speed fan as it is the most econmical and effective set up. I also understand that this is a puller fan set up. I have a rebuilt stock 454 with all the stock factory brackets, a/c fan, runs fine-no over heat issues, fresh radiator(4row) and the truck was an orginal a/c truck. The stock system works fine until you use a/c and get into stop and go traffic. I always thought it was best to leave all the stock cooling in place and add a "helper" fan on the a/c condensor. This would give the cooling needed at highway speed and the aux fan would help in traffic. I guess my question is what has been done by you guys to make the best situation work? I like to leave everything looking as neat and tidy as possible. Did I mention I am on a budget too! Can I use the Ford fan and make it a pusher instead of a puller? I do have a trans cooler on the passenger side of the a/c condenser as well-any thoughts?
