Drive Shaft length
Well I am still working on the front end rebuild on my 71 SWB truck frame.
I am about ready to instal the engine and transmission. So, I got to looking at the rest of the driveline. I notice that the drive shaft SHOULD be a real short shaft from the trans to the carrier bearing location, due to the location of the trailing arm mounts and the trans crossmember, as compared to my LWB. My question is: the length of the drive shaft for a SWB from the top of the training arms (or where the carrier bearing would be), down to the diff, is the same as the length for shaft for the LWB? So theoretically, I could swap out the shaft from the Carier Bearing to Diff from the other truck, and just get a short shaft from the trans to the CB?
