67 327 Question?

I am about to start another restoration on a 67 ShortWide pickup. I have the original engine with only 46K on it. I am wanting to make this thing into a little screamer and was looking for suggestions on how to liven this thing up. I know its a large journal 327 that originally ran about 260HP. I would like this thing to be in the 400HP range when I get done with it. I have even thought about putting a 283 Crank in this thing with a fairly tight top end. Is that a fairly common thing to do to these 327's? I would like to keep it normally aspirated with no forced air. I would also like to say that my pockets are not bottomless. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
