Need help quick guys

ok im painting my cab and i got evey thing primered except for the floor but the floor is ready for primer so what i want to do is paint the interior then the door jams on both sides then paint the door jams (on the door) then the back of the door and install it without scratching anything then paint the whole out side of the cab but my dad says he wants to drill holes in the door hinge and thruoghthe cab but the bracket on the inside is in the way so that wont work im not woried about lining it up with the cab im woried about scratching the truck so what should i do
