Won't start!

It has been a while since this has been discussed and I know that a lot of you are very knowledgeable, but for new people to the 67-72 world I will share what just happened recently.

I had been having problems over the last year or so with my truck not turning over, usually at the worse times. Normally I would twist the cables and it would start, then after I got it home I would clean both the cable ends and the battery posts and there would not be a problem again for a while.

This time it happened when I got in it to come home and there was a rain storm going on. When it stopped raining I wiggled the cables and it fired right up. When I got home I was determined to figure out what was wrong.

I cleaned the cable ends, battery posts and grounds, then I figured I might as well go one step further. I cut a small part of the insulation off of the positive cable by the battery end, yep you guessed it. The wire was very corroded inside the insulation.

I replaced both battery cables and now there should not be a problem for a very long time.

It turns over better than it has.
