Tune up cost
Ok, so I was looking under the hood and was just checking to see how easy it will be to do the tune up myself and realized I have a huge snake pit in there. I cannot even see the plugs on the left side of the engine let alone get to them. The PO had said that his dad added something to make it haul better but I wasn't paying attention as I was planning on going over the whole thing myself but now time is not free anymore. I need a tune up to pass smog and was wondering what would be a good price to get it done at a shop. Most places just list $69.99 to start but I know it won't be that amount. It looks like a lot will need to be disconnected to reach the plugs, plus I want wires, cap, rotor, air filter and they will charge more for that.
I have no problem buying the parts first then taking it in, but a old friend told me that a lot of places don't like that as they make more on ripping you off for parts than the labor so they don't install parts you bought yourself. Also, does anybody in the Victorville, CA area know of a good shop to go to? I just moved up here 3 years ago and never had to take a car anyway yet and don't know any shops. Thanks in advance.
