How much play in a Tcase and Trany?

I bought a parts truck and I was planning on using the Tcase and Tranny. It's a 205 with an SM465. If I rotate the rear ujoint back and forth, I seem to have a fair amount of rotational play. I can hear a bit of a clunk which seems to be comming from the tranny.

How much play is normal? How many degrees should I be able to move the rear ujoint.

Is there some part that develops slop in the tranny to tcase coupler?

I have a rebuilt 2wd tranny, can I pull the output shaft from this one and put it in the rebuilt without having gears mesh that are from two different sets or should I get a new 4wd output shaft for the rebuilt box?

What are my options?

Thanks in advance.
