Hood springs to struts

I've got one side of the conversion roughed in. Still need to do some final adjustments, then take off the hinge and core support corner brace (where the bottom bracket is welded) and clean them up. Eventually I'll probably powder coat both.

I got the idea from a pic that somebody posted from a recent truck show (maybe Pigeon Forge??). As for physical benefits, I think the answer is none. However, it's different, and looks kind of cool. Struts cost me $30 for the pair at AutoZone and they have a lifetime warranty. They are for the rear hatch of a '94 Plymouth Laser.
