Vortec opinions??

I was wanting to do a 6.0 swap on my truck but after alot of thought and punching on a calculator and with the other things I want to do the bottom line was too large for my pockets. However I have a few Vortec 350s laying around and noticed that an adaptor from carb to tbi exists for fairly cheap. So I am thinking of building a mild 350 vortec with a carb intake and tbi adaptor then putting a 454 throttle body and maybe bigger fuel pumps. That way I retain the stock tbi because my truck is all original down to the jack under the hood. So the question is do you think this would be worth my time I am just tired of the stock 305. I an considering this because I think I can do this for around $1200-$1500.
