How To.....remove lock cylinder in center console???
I am in the process of putting stock bucket seats and a stock center console in my '85 Suburban and hit a small road block. I have an old donor center console for parts that is gray, I also have a brand new GM center console the blue, my interior color. I am switching parts from the old gray one to the new blue one and need to switch lock cylinders. The new one has nothing and the old one has a keyed one for which I do not have the key. Can I remove it without the key? My assumption is yes because the glove box lock cylinder/latches that are not keyed have to come apart somehow and I am thinking this should be similar. I tried taking a pick to it with a flashlight but maybe I am just not hitting the right spot, who knows. Is there something I am missing? I tried looking in the GM service manual I have for 1985 Light Duty Trucks and I cannot find where this process is in the manual. Any experienced GM techs or shadetrees out there that have done this before??
