1970 GMC front drums

I have a 1970 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4.

I want to keep the stock front drums (no time or desire to change to disc brakes. Way too many other projects to get done) but I'm having troubles finding replacement drums. Mine are wore too bad to be machined.

I heard from one parts guy that I might be able to take the rear drums and machine out the center hole to fit over the hub. Has anyone done this? Does it have to be done by a machine shop or could a guy simply grind it larger?

Thanks for the help.
