The A/C in my 78 Silverado was updated to the new Freon type,
but the compressor is original.

The air is very cold, but the compressor bogs down my engine every few seconds.
It feels like an 80 mph gust of wind slams into the front of my truck, slows down, and then goes away...

I would really like to know if a new compressor would fix this...

Thanks!

Sorry I missed your question

In the early '80's GM changed to this style of compressor.
Sorry I don't have any experience with the older compressors

They do make a bolt in c notch
I have thought about some helper bags too.
And yes it is a 2 piece shaft
