Leaf Spring Arch

I have a 1972 1/2 ton 4x4, I was told it is a "heavy half??" due to the fact it has helper springs on the rear. My question is I was going to have the springs re-arched. It looks that over the years they have lost some lift. The guy at the shop said he could gve me a inch or two of extra lift by arching them a little more. Is this a good way to go for a little body lift?? Not wanting much of a lift just enough to make it stand tall and have tire clearence.
