'70 K10 throwout bearing

Pulled everything apart to replace a very noisy throwout bearing, got a new one from Autozone (Timken 614018). When I got home and looked at the new one, I noticed it had a little pin going across the groove where the release fork rides. It would in theory keep that portion of the assembly from spinning, I guess, becase the pin would hit the fork. My old bearing doesn't have the pin. What's the deal?
