235 Engine Removal Question

Is it possible to pull out a straight 6 (235) without pulling the bell housing and tranny? My truck is a 1962 C20 if that makes a difference... The parking brake is the kind with the (leather?) strap around the drum.

It looks like I am going to have to unbolt the tranny and pull the block and bell housing together. Is there a better way?

Thanks--This is surely in the manual but I haven't gotten it yet and I have searched the forums for a while and haven't found any conclusive threads...
