brake pedal on auto trucks, some wide some narrow why?

I would have thought they were changed for some reason but my old man said the one his dad bought brand new had a small pedal, auto and was bought from the dealer.

Now our 84 does have the LD brakes with 1 inch rotors. I forget what plant it is though.

My original thought was it was a stick shift from factory, but the SPID or rpo's sunk that theory and then I thought somebody had yanked one from a stick shift and put it in, who knows it can be very possible on ours.
