Just in case
I ran across this starter yesterday @ O-Riley's Auto parts. This is a stock item that they carry. It's a direct replacement mini starter for our trucks. This thing is only 1 1/2lbs and it has the strength of the full size delco starter.
I installed it yesterday while it was raining so I haven't drove it yet but it looks like it should be fine. It's got at least 3" of clearance all the way around it form the exhuast. I fired it up a couple of times and it had no noise or grinding. I used a 3/16" & 1/16" chim with 3 washers on each bolt so it would tighten down. If your having trouble like me this is a good choice I think!
