Hi Torque Starters
Just drove the '68 home from the engine shop. The thrust bearing went out on the engine. I put the wrong throw out bearing in it and the engine guy said that was the cause of the failure. From what I have found out, that is possible- very unlikely, but possible on an engine with only a few hours on it. So bottom line is "possible" means I had to give the guy who did the shortblock the benefit of the doubt and pick up the tab for the repair.
Enjoyed the ride home, parked it in the driveway, and went to fire it up again just to enjoy the sound of a motor I hadn't heard run in a while and...wouldn't start! About fifteen minutes after the engine cooled (and my tears dried ![]() CHEVY 305 350 454 Mini Starter Super Torque Series 3 HP MT200 SHI0032 Looks like I could get it from DB electrical for about $100 including shipping. Thanks for the help! |
