keep it as a toy or use it as a truck?

I had some fun with my c10. Last weekend I turned up the boost and overdriven the blower at 14% about 11-12 psi. Tank had 2 gallons of 91 and I added 5 gallons of sp1.
Anyway, motor started making milkshake. Pulled a motor out and took it apart. All I can think of is that I lifted the heads.
I have to make a dission here. Do I put it back the way it was or make it more of a reliable work truck? I missed driving it long distances and not watching temp and oil pressure gauges. It was reliable before but I had to watch temp on a hot days. What would you do?
