01' Sub. 5.3 oil leak

Guys, I'm new to this section of the board. I'm also new to the '99-'06 body trucks. I recently purchased an '01 Suburban K1500 w/a 5.3. Upon doing it's first oil change, I noticed the bottom rear of the oil pan and the bottom front of the trans. bellhousing to be wet with oil. Do these gen III engines have problems with rear mains leaking or is there something else common about leaking oil at the rear of these engines? Thanks in advance!!
