350 engine with A/C
This is a complete 350 engine with A/C including all brakets and pulleys Air cleaner to oil pan minus the power steering pump (the pump on my 87 GMC was shot so I pulled the pump off this engine). Engine# 3970010, Heads# 458642, Intake# 346250. It's a points system that looks like it was replaced and in good shape. The orginal owner was unsure if this engine was original because it was handed down to him through the family, dad, brother, then PO. After pulling engine and running numbers I've realized this is a much later engine probably out of a 79. If this was an original 350 matching the truck I would've used it. Unfortately it's not so my dad, brother and myself collectively decided that it is in my best interest to just drop a crate motor into my frame off resto truck. I did a compression test before I pulled it to make sure it was still in good running order and it is: Cyl 1-152psi, cyl 2-152psi, cyl 3-142psi, cyl 4-138psi, cyl 5-142psi, cyl 6-145psi, cyl 7-134psi, cyl 8-149psi.
When I first got the truck it had sat a while but I put new plugs in it, changed the oil/filter and ran some carb. cleaner through it and it ran very good. When I pulled the valve covers to get the model numbers for the heads I noticed that someone used sealant as valve cover gaskets and also the heads should definitely be removed and hot tanked to get all the grit and grime off. If I were going to use this engine I would have it hot steamed to degrease it and buy a complete gasket set for it, have a valve job done on the heads and put it all back together and run it. I am located off I-84 in Brookfield, CT 06804. I have a lift to load right into your vehicle. Anyone coming through CT on there way to the Carlisle meet this weekend feel free to stop and inspect yourself. I am looking to get $575 (lowered price) for everything. Anything you do not see pictured is currently stored including all the a/c stuff and brackets. Pics of the A/C stuff coming shortly. Last edited by Patsfan34; 09-29-2010 at 09:56 AM. |
