Automatic Transmission Line Routing

I have a recently acquired 1973 K20 long bed with a 350/350TH. Today I removed the starter and had a heck of a time, mainly due to the 2 transmission hard lines that run from the trans up to the radiator. From what I remember, these are supposed to be ABOVE the starter and route right near the engine oil pan, am I correct? I had to wrestle the starter between the front driveshaft and the 2 tranny lines to drop it.

These lines have been bent/modified by the previous owner and run below the starter. I'm not sure this is the way they are supposed to go. Anyone have a photo or can anyone offer some advice?

Thanks in advance.

M
