Spacing out my wheels
I have an '84 Chevy C30, it was originally a utility body , it has been fit with an '04 dually bed after the utility body rusted out. The axle is apparently shorter than the axle of the '04 dually's was, the previous owner just cut the wheel wells on the bed down the middle and added a 4" strip of metal in between to space them in a bit.
The problem being this leaves me with 44" inches between my wheel wells at the center of the bed, I'm a carpenter and often need to put 48" + plywood in my bed, with a cross bed toolbox sitting the ply over the wheel wells is a nuisance. Is there a spacer available to push my wheels off the hub a bit so I can cut out the welds and return my bed to original dimensions? |
