Jeep Springs

I have been reading on here where a lot of people are using Jeep springs to get a 4" + drop. If you used them did you have to modify the spring retainers because mine bottom out before they get tight on the spring, and exactly how much drop did you get? I got a set given to me and I am trying to figure out if I want to try to use them or just buy some 4" drop springs. Any thoughts and tips would be greatly appreciated.
