Vintage Caravan Project (travel trailer) Do I or Don't I?
I have the opportunity to get a vintage caravan project for free. Basically its sat at my parents place in France where its been for god knows how long as it was there when they bought the place. Its a probably 60's vintage Henon, made fairly locally to them on the Somme in France. Its fibreglass so structurally not an issue although the chassis is goosed and needs replacing, the actual drawbar bit has been cut off at some point. Re-chassising it wouldn't be too hard as theres a caravan breakers near me so it would give me the opportunity to put the body on a modern chassis with decent brakes etc. The interior is pretty complete but trashed as per the pictures. I was going to find someone to take it away for them but I have this nagging voice in my head that says "it'd look good behind the truck" I have always maintained that Caravans are the work of Satan but maybe its age or something thats making me want to haul it onto a car trailer and drag it home.
Heres some pictures, its kind of cute looking really, just imagine it done out in period tuck and roll vinyl inside and period fittings. inside What do you reckon, might have to wait until we sell the house and get somewhere with a bit more room. Would look good bhind my '67 Chevy C10 with a matching paintjob.
