This shouldn't be this complicated, Horn button

I'm having a heck of a time with my horn button.

Here's what I have.

In this pic I'm holding the turn signal cam into the steering wheel adapter with the contact spring and plunger dropped into the hole. Problem is, plunger and spring are no where near long enough to come in contact with the plate the horn button snaps onto. am I missing pieces? Or how do I make this work? Thanks
