think I figured out what my engine squeak was..
My truck has developed a squeak about 2 weeks ago in the engine main drive belt. I couldnt narrow it down with a stethescope. I squirted soapy water on the belt and the noise went away... so I removed the belt, cleaned it with soapy water and wire brush and scuffed the smooth side up with a sanding disc (by hand) and installed it. No difference... as soon as it started it sounded the same (like a chicken chirping).
I removed the belt again and spun everything (exept the water pump) and I heard the alt making a slight noise... so I sprayed some BG lube in there... and no difference. I was going to buy a altenator but hadnt yet. So today after work I had a few extra bottles of XMax so I was like, meh, I'll add em to the gas tank and engine oil. I drop the oil cap and it got stuck in the frame rail and header.. dam. Well I retrieve it and see a few drops of oil. Not sure where it came from but I was like... I'll bring it in the shop and wipe it down. Still have the squeak and I removed the belt once again.. this time I bump the fan blade and that sucker moved (wobbled).. I was like WTF? that sucker is about to fail aon me big time. Im sure that has to be the squeak becuase now I spun everthing else and nothing.. not a peep... anyway monday I will grab a water pump from the dealer and install it Monday or Tuesday.... That had better been the squeak! My truck has no other squeaks or rattles at this time I make a point to surpress any rattles or noises that annoy me. clint
