New rag joint issues

I had a day off today and tackled swapping out old steering box for a completely rebuild one. Along the way a front end brake and bearing repack job. Not bad for an afternoon.

The swap was straight forward except after flashing and priming power steering system I have strange binding when I turn steering wheel. I have replaced rag joint with a brand new one - is it possible that new rag joint could be causing binding when I turn steering wheel??? Is this temporary - due to new rag joint stiffness???

New and old steering boxes side by side:

I could not complete job due to small leak - high pressure hose fitting was leaking at inlet port - annoying little things.
