Should alt be drawing power?

I converted to int. regulated alt. When i did the conversion, i cut off the clip that used to plug into the regulator. I spliced the brown and white wires together and the pink and blue wire together, and ran a length of the new white and blue wires to the alt. I now have three wires hooked up to alt. One red one (hooked into the back of alt from harness firewall connector), one blue and one white from the splice location(the two wires are together in a clip that clips into side of alt ). When I hook up my wire to battery, the blue wire becomes energized, even though truck is turned off. I have even unhooked the wiring harness from the firewall and still the blue wire is energized. Is this a problem or should it be like this?
